Punk was better in the ring back then than what he has showed in AEW (he was never amazing In the ring anyways especially if judged within AEW's typical style)
Another issue is he's a much better heel than face and he's much better when he can be seen as fighting against some greater and higher power (sort of like Austin and fighting Mr. McMahon) and he hasn't gotten to do any of that in AEW yet. I suspect within the next year he will be a full blown heel and probably a bit more entertaining

I feel this "Real" World Champion storyline will be the catalyst for Punk to go full heel
esp when we see who comes out of the MJF/Cole story as both AEW World Champion & the lone babyface
