WWE Monday Night Raw Thread: Farewell to the Universal Title Again Edition
Posted on 7/15/19 at 5:34 pm
Posted on 7/15/19 at 5:34 pm
As we all know... Money in the Bank was finally used and the Universal Title shall soon disappear into part time status with our new champion
But the immediate future of Raw looks bright as Paul Heyman fully takes over his new role as executive director of Monday Night Raw tonight... which is why last night's Extreme Rules may have actually seemed like an "ender" show with a lot of storylines coming to their conclusions.

Raw tonight is in Uniondale, N.Y. at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
the new Universal Champion has actually decided to show up for work tonight to find out who will challenge him at Summerslam... thanks to a 10-man battle royal that involves members of both brands... Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley, Cesaro, Rey Mysterio, Jr., Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, Randy Orton, & Big E Langston
AJ Styles & the rest of The Club will celebrate AJ's U.S. Championship win last night
Becky Lynch will also find out her Summerslam challenger thanks to a Fatal 4 Way match that you would probably wish was on Pornhub instead of USA Network... Alexa Bliss vs. Naomi vs. Natalya vs. Carmella
Plus I'm hopeful that Bray Wyatt will make his re-debut tonight as well... but that's just my hope and not a Paul E. spoiler

and an FWL note...
since Summerslam is 1 of the "Big 4"... FWL point values will be higher...
so this could be a big chance for someone who's missed a show or 2 to get back in contention... or a chance for someone to break away from the pack

Paul Heyman Spoilers from me:
Rollins is the champ come Raw after Summerslam.
Balor will be a member by the end of Raw the night after Summerslam.
Braun Strowman will have a WWE and/or Universal Title match at WM Pirate ship.

They pulled off a great PPV, let's assume Paul has a plan with Brock now. He clearly has already stepped up the game for Raw. I doubt it will be same ole, same ole henceforth.

Agreed Braun has the most to gain in this WM cycle from these creative changes.

so the IIconics were supposed to feud with the Bellas over the women's tag team titles... that's why the IIconics got the belts at Mania
but then Nikki found out her career was over and the writers had no idea what to do with the IIconics or the women's tag team championships... and decided to put them on the backburner

I'm glad that the belt is back on Brock. Rollins is such a try-hard, but bottom line is, he just doesn't have "it."

I want to see Lashley vs Lesnar at WM. It doesn't even have to be a title match. The big rumor when Lashley first came back was him vs Lesnar and it seems like the type of match Vince loves. Surprised they haven't done it yet.

Bobby has had no build up until this feud with Strowman.

Depends on who he is compared to.....hell no he doesn't have what Hogan, Stone Cold, Rock, or Cena had but he is top 5 in the world right now as a total package.

Why? If it means having to listen to Lashley talk until WM I'll pass.....he has the charisma of a sloth.
ETA now if he's going to beat down Brock going into WM week after week...he can succeed at that but I'm not sure that's a good story or believable.
I'd rather see Braun v Brock for the title.

Interested to see where we go starting tonight.

Lashley's big and has an mma background. He needs a manager but let them do a Lesnar-Goldberg type match and it could be good. Just two big impressive physical specimens beating the shite out of each other.

Yep.....I mean they are going to have to build up some guys that aren't Giants as legit title contenders.....I'm not sure Bobby Lashley is going to pop a rating that they want....even against Brock.
They just put the IC on the most charismatic guy on the roster who hasn't even been on TV 5 times since WM before this title win. So that's promising if they do something with him.
I also like the fact that the Club is back together......need to put Balor in it and let them run wild as heels for a year or so and then setup AJ v Balor for a world title and control of the Club .

That's great for a 2 week build up to a B level PPV.....not too good for WM season in my mind.

I like this idea... but that's a 2 year build at least
1 year to 1.5 yrs to show The Club as a solid unit... then 3 months of slow animosity build... followed by final break-up and maybe a Survivor Series or Summerslam match to really set up the ultimate feud
ETA: have Finn begrudgingly help AJ win the WWE/Universal Title at Survivor Series
Finn wins Royal Rumble
He announces he wants AJ at Mania... Club jumps him
Finn (unannounced... though highly speculated) busts out Demon Balor for main event match at Mania
