Why does everyone focus on the armored vehicles? All they do is keep the people inside from being shot. Seeing the flipped over and burning police cars and vans proves they are needed. It isn’t like these things have a cannon mounted on them. That is a tank. I would be against tanks in the streets. What is wrong with an armored car?

Judging by the amount of crime in certain areas of major cities, it appears the police was defunded decades ago.

Ask New Iberia how it worked out for them.
What happened was, it gave the Sheriff's department complete power in the city. If anything went against the Sheriff's agenda, the local citizen had to plead to the State Police to help.
De-funding local police forces is an idiotic idea.
