Louisiana cities are too high for what you get. In NOLA unless you live in Algiers there is nothing decent under $400k
In Florida you can get a nice house for half that in a gated community with a pool. Im shocked by how cheap greater Orlando and Tampa are.

I think Florida is a good move for you. Maybe UF even has a board you could post on to complete the move.

West coast of FL has much to offer. Great medical options. Photos of rivers are not photo shopped. You can hunt, fish (*Cedar Key great), hike or whatever. See mermaids or manatees. You can spend a fortune or a little and enjoy. Housing options great. More festivals in winter/spring.

My hubs & I retired here. We have yet to put on Mouse ears in 3 years.

But long time unemployed careless free loaders (by choice) will be the same in any state. Drain on society.

We lived in central Florida for 6 years and after 2 years of adjusting loved it. Nothing better than driving with 4x4 AC and the sun roof open in the middle of January. I found a job job 4 months after moving there... doing temp work after the 1st month (June) of spending mornings in the pool and afternoons watching whatever the TV could pull OTA. My wife lived with one of the princesses for 9 months before I moved down there.

Stay there unless you don't feel welcome or are fed up with the New Yorkers everywhere.

Come to Destin and hang out at the docks when the fishing boats return and clean fish for cash then show up at at local church where you can sleep at night then repeat process each day. I could get you a gig at the college but you seem too pathetic to take out the trash so just clean fish
