Exhibit A of why you just stfu and go about your business without drawing attention to yourself. They didn't just guess he had access to money, nor did they just guess that his dad is a doctor. He told them that shite and now he's literally and figuratively fricked.

Losing your sanity is one of the most terrifying things a person can experience.

Would the inmate know he’s losing his mind?

It's not like a light turning on or off. Pretty sure a person senses the gradual loss of their mental faculties.

What is the other hour about?

You mean other than the 23 hours in your cell? You get to walk around in a different cage for an hour.

He ain't doing 40 years. He has a federal death sentence for killing someone with a bomb. They also convicted him of using a weapon of mass destruction (which I don't really agree with) and that carries a federal death sentence, too. In all, they gave him the death penalty for 6 or 7 federal counts. Massachusetts wasn't going to do the job, but the feds will.

Assuming he doesn't win any of his appeals, he'll eventually be transferred to Terre Haute, Indiana where he'll die on the end of a needle. Same place McVeigh was put down.
