It can charge from 0 to full in about 8 hours at home, and go about 259 miles on a charge (250 if you get the slightly larger version). It can also use public rapid charging network for a much faster charge (100 miles of charge in 30 minutes).

Nope this is a huge step backwards

Charge it at the public charging stations (up to 100 miles or charge in 30 minutes) or a overnight at your hotels along the way if long distance travel must happen in your commuter car.

So a family with 3 EVs heading from Texas to Florida for their yearly beach trip. Your solution is that they stop every 200 miles and wait for AT A MINIMUM an hour and a half for all three vehicles to charge, or they should leave several days ahead of time and simply stop and stay the night in a couple of hotel rooms.

Edit- they would have to stop every 100 miles after the original 200 making it even longer

No I take 2 minutes once a week to fill up at one of thousands of refueling stations
That's more work by you than it takes me to start every day with a "full tank" with my EV.

Maybe they can offer a hand crank for manual charging in those states with an embarrassingly bad electric grid like Texas.

Or just go charge at any one of the dozens of destination chargers or 2 superchargers that are available right now to charge at.

Or charge at home. The Texas thing is a silly example since we're on rolling outages.

The Bolt would make a shitty big rig. It’s a commuter car.

They are all commuter cars until they can give me a 400 mile quick charge.

How much is a full charge gonna cost me in electricity?

People act like electric will save them money

I went from $80-100 in fuel monthly to $15-20, but you're right, I'm "acting like electric will save me money"

It's just so weird that people are so deadset against this to the point of becoming illogical and arguing against very simple facts.

Ohhh so you’re going to do the weasel thing.

“I didn’t actually bet an amount so it wasn’t a bet”

Predictable.

Just to be 100 percent clear on this...

Doesn’t mean you’re actually betting.

I am just giving Texas the same ration of shite they give to California around energy. It’s technically a natural disaster for them.

No thanks. There are days sometimes where I’m not even home for a total of 8 hours.

The entire gamble is being predicated on "technology" improving by 2035 that will allow EVs to charge in an acceptable amount of time. That's the first hurdle and then we would need to overcome the strain on the power infrastructure.

This makes no sense.

Why can't I drive to the beach?

You sound like you're one of those dudes still stuck in 2012 that thinks it's takes 1 hour or more to charge on road trip.

Okay you win. California’s energy policy blows, as I’ve stated for years.

Beer Jeep is stuck in 1955. And probably condones Jeep’s super bowl commercial with Springsteen.

Be a gentleman. Donate the $20 to a charity. Post the screenshot as proof.

You have an hour or you’re a coward and a liar.
