I see MD's protecting their own.
Not having worked in an office I don't doubt what they are saying and people trying to get a little something extra during a visit. But, people who work anywhere where people know something and you don't, they love to talk shite. Every lawyers office, court house, hospital, doctors office I've ever been around people talk about stuff they shouldn't talk about.
It's human nature I guess. And the OP's story is plausible. Doctors are as bad about it as anyone else. Is it actionable is another story. It's probably just he said she said BS.
But OP might create some trouble if she files a complaint. Hippa is serious stuff.
And an MD's reputation is important. People may think twice if they think their business is being spread all over
