He called me dad on his own. Wasn't something I expected or forced. Considering I'm the one paying for all his stuff right now (wife is staying at home with our baby) and worrying about his college expanses I give zero fricks what his bio dad thinks.

My wife had a kid prior to us meeting. He was four when we started dating. 9 now. He calls me dad. His real dad doesn't do jack shite. Maybe Skypes him 4 times a year and sees him about a day or two a year. He called me dad on his own. Wasn't something I expected or forced. What if the dad was a major part of his life and very involved? How would you feel about it then?
My brother divorced his wife when his kid was very young. Kid doesn't call her new husband dad. I think he just uses his first name, he's a teenager now and has had the step dad for a good part of those years. Bro is very involved and keeps the kid as much as the court allowed him to have him.

I had a friend who dated this girl in college who had a 5 year old son. They dated for like 6 months and got her kid to call my friend daddy even though her real dad was actually a good guy. Weirdest thing ever.
In no way can that be healthy for the kid. It almost sounds like some kind of psychological game to get a guy to stick around because he feels guilty about his girlfriend's kid.

The fact that we are glorifying these sluts and making them 'stars' is what's wrong with America these days.

Would you be ok if your child's mother let your child call another man "Dad"?
Only if she doesn't mind them calling her, "lying, cheating, drug addict whore that ruined our lives and destroyed our family in the first place."
I know it's a long title, but it seems pretty catchy to me.

Well considering I was married to my kids' mom years before either were born and we're still married today... Yeah, I'd take exception to the notion. And I'd have some questions for her as well.

a kid calling another man dad when dad is in their life is a total POS move....mainly done by the POS mother

I feel like if I was taking care of my responsibilities then this wouldn't even be a thing.

My stepson who I have been around since before he was 1 calls me daddy and his bio dad. We never coached him and even told him that it was fine if he wanted to call me Mr. and my first name. He chose it, and honestly as long as he is respectful in what he calls me, I couldn't care less which he picks.

My stepson was five when i meet my wife. His Dad is a Pos and had nothing to do with him but is always dad.
We started with him calling me Mr. first name. Something happened in grade school that made him feel weird. It was probably introducing me to his friends as Mr. First Name.
One day around second grade he asked me if he could call me Pop instead and i told him sure. Ive been pop to him since. Its a little strange for a middle aged man to be called Pop but it worked for us.
