I know that NOLA blocked a Ducks operator from opening in the city last year. I was just looking at pictures of one and thinking that would have been the perfect thing for getting stranded motorists off of I-12. There was water then land and then water so boats and cars couldn't get past, but a deuce and a half that can float and hold 25 people could.
Surprises me all these people have private deuce and a half and the city and state governments use them as high water vehicles. No one uses DUKWs.

I found a few for sale. Seems like you have five, you operate three at all times as a tourist operation. When needed all five all called in to relieve motorists trapped on roads, or get to places where a truck-boat-truck is needed.

Two of these things running all night would have got the people off the Interstate quickly. Could also me used to set up staging areas. Like the cajun Navy brings people to a point, then the DUKWs take the people to terra firma.

Hell the Cajun navy could off load to the DUKWs. I get costs, but if all the tourist traps can have mom and pop DUCK tour companies, why can't the State Government maintain five and recoup costs by leasing three?

The national guard has access to current military equipment. Why would the state buy WWII-era military equipment and pay those extra costs to maintain it? It just doesn't make much sense to me.

You do realize there are current military versions of the DUKW right? Like AAV's:

You do realize that plenty of local police forces use Deuce and a Halfs? I am just saying it would be nice to have a couple of these things on stand by just in case shite happens. Yeah the guard has cool toys, but the guard take a while to mobilize and get there. The police are literally the first responders and already utilize WW2 era high water trucks in some areas. I am just saying, why do they maintain those and no one has a DUKW. A DUKW can be used to generate income as well. All I'm saying.

I feel like they would be to low. That would not make it through mud. The reason air boats work so well here is bc they can go through shallow water.
