I was kind of surprised how much air pollution they have there.
They say the fricking smog is the fricking reason they have such beautiful fricking sunsets.

The bolded are just major cities. No somewhat about it.
Well outside of Charleston all of the ones i listed would fall under the major cities list. I would 99% of those listed in this thread.

What are the qualities you seek in an American city?
I don't really seek any particular quality in a city. I mostly hate cities and avoid them.

Leave the international cities out of this and tell us why you choose Boston, Miami, and Houston over the others. I'm particularly interested in what you hated about Chicago. Like where did you go, how long, etc?
Well first i didn't choose them over others. I said i was on the fence on ever visiting again.
Boston: has a pretty unique and interesting history as far as our nations birth. Massholes make it hard to tolerate though.
Miami: was fun party city, but as i think it was you said it's got a fake feel. It wasn't somewhere i would go out of my way to go back, but didn't dislike it enough to really avoid.
Houston: Is a pretty generic city, but not overly dirty mostly friendly people. It's just a place i probably wouldn't go back to but not opposed.
Chicago: I spent a year at Great Mistakes. I met my wife in Chicago (at bar of Chicago), just not a fan of the city. Miserable in the summer, Miserable in the winter, crime, pizza sucks, just nothing about it makes me want to go back. It's been 22 years since I've been there and nothing i have heard makes me think it go better. It's great if you love it. I didn't.

Ok then i would say:
Columbus, OH
Dayton, OH
Virginia Beach, VA (Pretty much all of Hampton Roads)
Birmingham, AL
Shreveport, LA
Baltimore, MD
If i could avoid it
Jackson, MS
Seattle, WA

Chicago miserable in the summer? No offense, but you are seriously the only person I have ever heard say that.

Holy shite! For all the people who love Chicago your welcome to it. It's a personal opinion I don't like it and wont go back. 2.5 million people seem to love it, I'm not one of them.

Relax. It’s just of all the things said about Chicago on the OT over the years that I’ve read, this is a first.
I’ll see myself out now...

Minneapolis, felt like Mogadishu.
I feel like I am knighting for cities ITT.
I hadn't been to the Twin Cities area for a while and had to be there coincidentally the week of the Chauvin verdict. Based on the news I expected Minneapolis to be quite different than I remembered but it wasn't mainly because I didn't go to their "North Baton Rouge" areas.
It is like Chicago, there is no doubt there are some truly horrible areas but if you stay in the Groose Point, Magnificent Mile, downtown, and Field Museum/Shedd Aquarium/Adler Planatarium areas (among others) you would have no idea South Side exists. As a tourist, unless you want to go to Comiskey/Guaranteed Rate you have no reason to even be near the South Side.

Paris fricking sucks. It's dirty as hell and smells like shite everywhere except The Louvre. But somehow it's viewed as this cultural capital of the world
There’s actually something called Paris Syndrome that is associated with how disappointing the city is compared to expectations. It’s most acutely felt by Japanese tourists and expats

Same thing I said in the other thread, downtown Cincy is awesome and the work they did in OTR is impressive.
