I have the opportunity to be a franchise of a large chicken fast food company not named canes. I love what I do and pull in 250k+(subtle brag) and the guy that owns and operates the company I consider a friend and mentor. I'm torn in many ways, but his loyalty to me has made me, and we've continually grown the company, so the income will continue to increase. On the flip side being your own boss is a plus and the high end income I couldn't match with my current employer, but risk is higher and nothing is guaranteed.

What would you do? If your under 30 just down vote me and move on

I'd stay with what youre doing if you love it and you have peace of mind knowing youre set pretty well without added risk. But thats just me

Working for someone else is less risky, although not without risk. That's the only thing good about it.

If this was true, you're smarter than asking an LSU message board if you should......

I've owned my own restaurants and I hope to have that opportunity to head up the company I work for in some fashion for our owners. Having your own place is nice but I was married to it. My quality of life is much better working for some very good people. Something for you to consider I suppose

Depending on how much the upside is, that's what you have to look at. Is it double or more? Then it would be something to look long and hard at.

Ahh it's just fun, Im leaning toward staying beacaue of quality of life. Im just looking for some one to throw out something I hadn't thought of. I'm just smart enough to know I'm not that smart, and regardless the ot has a few smart folks

Seriously if you’re making 250k a year you have to consider the start up cost and what you would make from day one. I’m guessing you have to be mid 30’s or older from your comment?

Def. Popeyes. Chick FIL a is apparently crack to some people and anyone with the opportunity to be a franchise owner isn't asking "should I?"
