Pink eye can be caused from bacteria, viruses, or even allergies. They make some over the counter drops that could work if yours is caused from allergies. Try it. If not, go see a dr and get a prescription

If it’s just one eye, it’s probably not allergies.
Viral conjunctivitis can be caused by common colds and the discharge is usually watery.
If it’s both eyes and you have sticky discharge going on, it’s probably bacterial.
I don’t recommend using anything over the counter for either type of eye infection, you could reinfect yourself messing with drops and they don’t help.
A painful and flaming red eye needs to be checked out. It could be HSV or an abrasion. Most of the time pinkeye goes away in the same amount of time it takes to treat it, but it never hurts to get checked out. You only have a couple of eyes, so take care of them.
And FFS please wear a patch. It’s super contagious and people will hate you if you give them pinkeye.

Go to the doctor and get the drops. It will help quickly.
There are two types (viral and bacterial). Make sure you get the right drops. You need steroid drops if it is Viral (watery discharge). Antibiotic drops is bacterial (crusty).

Tell them you've been smoking weed.

How does one contract pink eye assuming you don’t do gay things and regularly wash your hands?

Wash your hands after you wipe. Hygiene.
