Thanks for posting this. I was planning on going on a date with Margo Robbie, whom I connected with on facebook messenger, and she just asked me for $500k. I was about to send it but thankfully saw this story and now am having second thoughts.

My mother in law was convinced a 4* general that contacted her on Facebook was in love with her.
I had to convince her it was fake. She refused to believe me
Probably 15 years ago my at the time girlfriend had a co-worker, the girl was very fat, probably 350 lb and she would occasionally talk to the other gals about her boyfriend, a soldier stationed overseas she met on Facebook.
Naturally their "relationship" involved her sending him gifts and PlayStations and shite he "couldn't get on the base", etc. My gf said everyone just kinda sat around uncomfortable when she talked about it and nobody had the heart to tell her.
Stupidity is a part of the equation but sad, lonely people are gonna fall for these scammers way more often too.

I dated a girl back in like ‘98 who had a real beast of a mom who would just sit at the computer all night and message her Internet boyfriend whose pics were those of a firefighter calendar model. She would send him hot chick model pics too.
This was before “catfishing” became a well known thing, but the stupidity of the situation was staggering to me. I think maybe they knew it was all bullshite, but it was like reading a romance novel for them.
And going back to the subject, indeed a brilliant move by the husband.

Man, he really took her for a ride.

I’ve been sending 75% of my paycheck to Corrina Kopf after she reached out to me via Facebook. I know it’s her because she sends me nudes and how else would someone get those?
