People generally trust the military more than the CIA, and for some reason, don’t revere Delta and ST6 guys that move over to the CIA as much.

That may be true but SAD is still bad fricking arse.
They're so secretive that the US government barely acknowledges them in FOIA requests and they are the elite of the elite as their members are recruited from Delta, DEVGRU, MARSOC, ISA, FORECON and so on.

I encourage you guys that are interested to read the article. It states that Delta was the initial choice for the Bin Laden raid, but since Delta was typically assigned to Iraq, for OpSec reasons, JSOC decided to use ST6.

i really wouldn't know a lot about any of em. devgrp, delta and any govt agency that sheep dips people.
i know guys with SO experience can play several different roles, but i would assume SAD is made up of veteran operators who were probably recruited.
might even be a tda type situation for training, workup then a mission.

Yep. FBI HRT is the same...basically Tier 1 guys that work for the FBI. Those guys are bad news too, but from what I’ve heard, they have their own culture problems.

It's a mix. Some come up through the ranks of the FBI, others are recruited from the military. Source: BIL was an FBI agent. Not on the HRT, but he knew a couple of them through being on the dive team in the NYC Field office.

I know a guy that is HRT and I know two FBI agents, one former SF and one Ranger, both of whom tried out once and didn’t make it. As seems to be the case in the FBI, making the HRT team is apparently political as much as it is physical/mental.
Both guys were told that they were not selected because it was their first try-out for HRT and they didn’t have enough support from within the team to make it on the first go.
Both guys went home and work as agents and regional FBI SWAT guys.
