Has anyone ever installed one of these things? We are in the middle of a renovation and the contractor wants to charge me $900 to replace the pull string light with a light switch. F that. This product has pretty good reviews, but I have never heard of it before.

Will Les give full control of the light switch to Cam?

You can do it yourself it's pretty easy and cost $18 for a wireless wall switch from Home Depot or $38 for a 3-way wireless switch.

It's pretty easy
You can also buy a ceiling fan with remote kit included if that's an option

We've had one over the zink for years. plug in the module then stick the switch wherever you want. Works perfectly.

You can get a wink and enough wifi bulbs for your whole house for $900. Screw that switch business. And if you have an Echo, you can turn them all on/off without getting off the couch.

This may be a dumb question, but does the manual switch still work for wifi bulbs? I assume you have to keep the light hot with electricity and then you just control it from there, but what if the wifi goes out?

The one you're talking about can be found in those as seen on tv sections in the store and they do work great. The one he's looking at buying is probably UL listed and definitely a lot more money. I'd go with the cheap one for about 10$. At least that's what the one I bought cost about 7 years ago or so.

You're right. I didn't even open the link. Ours is the cheap one that involves no wires: plug in a little module to a socket then stick the switch to the wall with adhesive. Probably $10-$15 and can't remember the last time we replaced the batteries in the switch.
