When should we expect to begin to see road closures announced? Also does anyone know what the chances are of losing power in the Gonzales area? I'm attempting to game plan my next 48 hours

They don't give a shite.
Eta: like anyone will be looking at apartments. Our vendors are all closed and just got a call from court that they are too, so evictions will happen thursday

i'm assuming that they won't just start shutting down roads. They will put out sand as they can, and then wait and see what happens. When bridges start freezing and becoming unsafe to drive on, you'll see closures.
They aren't just gonna shut stuff down preemptively.

the thing is Louisiana doesn't have the equipment to handle something this big, it would be easier and safer to shut them down ahead of time.

FYI - your worded forecasts you read on weather.gov are automated.. and from what i read they've been having glitches so don't take the exact accumulations to heart.

This.
In other words, it's hard to say. Worst case scenario would be shortly after the freezing rain begins.. So 5-6am?

Heck, we could still end up getting lucky and not get a ton of freezing roads/bridges. It would be dumb to shut it down just in case.

Sand doesn't do shite, especially on ice.

oh i know, i didn't mean shutting them down ahead of time, just heard a rumor about making a decision today as to when they will shut them down rather than wait and see if salt/sand will help.

Probably. If I can get there I'll go.
I'd rather a Cat 1 hurricane than a real ice storm.

I have been saying this all along.. IF you don't have to get to BR tomorrow... DON'T. If you have to go in to work you better get out of BR by noon or you may get stuck where you are for the duration....

Road closures are easy. Usually law enforcement and dotd report live road information and decide as it happens in real time. They don't usually announce in advance (although I saw the Nola rumor about closures).
