What about students that won't be able to make the make up classes? Is it fair to them?
In the end I understand why they are canceling class, but LSU seems a little quick on the trigger to cancel class when they don't need to sometimes.
Thats not even the main reason they will cancel class. Regardless of how far the average student lives from LSU, there will be hundreds of car accidents near LSU's campus Tuesday afternoon if they have class.

Some essential people will have to report, some places by their nature will have to open, but there will be a lot of people off work.
I didn't realize that employers are giving people off of work on days like that. I figured just about everyone still had to go to work just like every other day.

most people stay home during weather like this ,meaning that there wont be many customers at stores so workers wont have much to do.

I didn't think classes Friday needed to be canceled, but obviously I do not have a very popular opinion here. I drove around just as much Friday as I would have if I had class. Hell, I probably drove around more than I would have if I had class.
I can understand for people that had to commute, but the average student living around campus probably didn't sit inside all day friday and not go anywhere.

That was such a weird morning.
I think it was worse than people expected. (Sounds familiar.) And then the snow kicked back up hard around 8 am after school started.
LSU didn't close because it was the last day of finals. There was no way to make that up.

Good point.
Also, some posters in this thread aren't considering the number of people who commute to LSU's main campus. I can remember the shitshow on campus back in '08 when they didn't cancel classes.

Yea, but both of my parents growing up had jobs that didn't let them off of work when things like this happened, so thats probably where my misunderstanding stems from.

Where did you drive to Friday? The traffic was terrible in most places

I got up and went get something to eat near campus and then drove to a party later on that evening.
ETA. The party was off of brightside.
