I have been boycotting the Oscars for about 20 years....Who wants to watch a bunch of elitists get together and tell each other how great they are and how much society loves them?

He should have won one for Ali.

I believe Denzel won that year for Training Day. I liked Ali but I don't think he was snubbed for losing to Denzel that year.

I watched b/c I like Chris Rock.
He killed and he even capped on Will Smith.

He mentioned that he wasn't nominated, but that he had been paid $20M for "The Wild, Wild West".

I gave up on the show about 30 minutes because it became a simpering, pandering apology to every black person on the planet.

Yeah, Chris went after the Smiths pretty hard. He said Jada boycotting the Oscars was like him boycotting Rihanna's panties. "We weren't invited."

I thought they handled it very well at first--it had to be addressed early--and I thought it was pretty funny during the opening. But I thought the running theme was a little too much and unnecessary. And it kinda took away from the actual awards.

And what was up with the Stacey Dash bit? Was her being a Republican part of the joke? I didn't get that one.

Does anyone here think that his performance could've beaten the other five?

It wasn't bad at all IMO.

It isn't because you're black, it's because you didn't act well enough.
I thought he was great playing Danny Glover's son-in-law in Lethal Weapon 4.
