Longleaf/Slash pine savannas are beautiful. That drive through Apalachicola NF/Tates Hell is amazing. Miles of nothing but fire-managed savannas - just the way God intended them to be.

Never been to southwest Louisiana from the basin to Lake Charles or pretty much the entire Texas gulf coast, but it must be Satan's backyard, because the boonies through the panhandles is nothing but weeds and slash pine trees. You can literally drive for miles without seeing a single hardwood.
