We at the US catfish industry constantly fight states to implement labeling laws and country of origin labels. Many refuse to do it, because so many competing imported food products bank on consumers assuming it's a US product, especially with meats.

A lot of people wouldn't eat fish, beef, chicken, etc if it said on the box it came from China. But the import lobby is strong.
