Didn't Boris Karloff bemoan the 'horror' moniker in relation to his genre of films? Likely because the term horror used to be associated with a certain repugnant negativity, like 'the horrors of war?' Whereas the term 'terror' had a somewhat cleaner connotation, related more to spookiness and 'fright' than repugnance?

I seem to recall reading something about all that one time. But the term 'horror' caught on, and became the prime term.
