Despite the many drawbacks that you described, South Louisiana is still a great place for a blue collar/bachelor degree holder to make 6 figures and live comfortably

Way better than most of the country

So Bama blacks are better than Louisiana blacks?

Considering some of them have Irish ancestry, yeah.

Probably a better DA & police department.

This is it. Alabama is a much better ran state from the top all the way down to local police. They don’t have that lazy kick the can down the road point the finger mentality. It’s not a lawless land like most of Louisiana tends to be.

Worth noting that while Louisiana ranks near the bottom in almost every QOL index,

These indexes are total bs created from statistics like obesity. They claim that obesity rates are indicators of QOL.

Fact is that most people labeled as “obese” aren’t morbidly obese they are just a little chunky. These folks are living completely happy normal lives and wouldn’t claim to have a poor QOL. Also worth noting that I can be a healthy normal guy and my neighbor being obese doesn’t impact my QOL.

Yall can squall all you want about Louisiana but IRL damn near everyone I meet there doesn’t seem to be a depressed miserable person. They seem very content and happy with their life.

Could be that there is a settled pecking order in the drug trade. Boundaries are set and “peace” is established (until it isn’t).

NYC murder rate is 5 per 100k and FOX news and many posters here carry on like it's the wild west.
Because it is the Wild West where it’s supposed to be “safe”. The hoods of any city being incredibly dangerous doesn’t mean anything because they’re all varying degrees of dangerous. And most of that violence is street beef between people who know each other.

People get angry when the “safe” areas of a city start being overrun by crime that didn’t exist before because that means the city is asleep at the wheel. When innocent people are being victimized openly in nice areas of a city, there’s a problem.

It’s a great city IMO

Tons to offer and it’s a nice looking, pretty well organized city
