For some patients in needed to keep them heavily sedated for their own good..... dilauded is a badass pain killer when injected. Not so much in pill form. I’ve had them all over the last 5 years.

I gab been on Fentynyl patches at 125 micrograms every 72 hours for over a year. After radiation treatment almost 5 years ago for a rectal tumor, I was left with chronic radiation proctitus. The only way I can describe the pain is that it feels like someone shoved a pair of pliers up my arse and grabbed ahold of my rectal tissue and just starts twisting. The pain is completely debilitating. If the patches don't hold off the pain I have 10 mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I also use flexiril muscle relaxers to help with the rectal spasms that the docs think are causing most of the lingering pain.
For the record I have never felt any type of high from the fentanyl at all. If I need the oxycodone the sometimes I will feel a bit euphoric unless the pain is extreme like it gets to at times. Then I can take a double dose of oxycodone and not even feel any effects except the pain eases up until the oxy wears off.
I pray you never have to experience real, unrelenting, and severe pain. If you ever do then you will be glad that there are strong pain killers out there.

Military medics use or used a fentanyl "lollypop" as a pain killler.
Strong analgesic effect without the respiratory depression associated with opioids. When I gave a patient morphine or an opioid I had to closely watch them for respiratory status. With a fentanyl pop, I could administer it and move on to another patient. Super valuable in a multi casualty situation.
Now using Ketamine because of its disassociative effects.

Nobody uses MDMA in the hospital, ever. Not sure what medical use it has you speak of.
It was used with hypnosis to treat mental problems caused by traumatic events.
It is no longer allowed for this purpose and was moved to schedule I.

Fentanyl is used a lot in the operating room

Fentanyl was and is an excellent drug for a vet to use if he/she needs to knock out a horse. I think that is the use that pushed its development. Like all drugs with multiple effects, it has evolved into other uses, many of them habit forming and eventually lethal.
As a drug for pain control in patients who were dying, to be used in the last few weeks before death, OxyContin is an excellent drug. To control the pain of common muscle strain and mild postoperative pain, it is being misused by physicians and drug salesmen in the push to accumulate nicer condos and top of the line BMWs.

Yeah, they tried that with LSD too, and it also is never used in the hospital. Yet, there are clowns here claiming it has more medicinal value than fentanyl.

Damn. I have felt the same kinds of pain. Unbearable at times.

To kill people. A couple kids I went to HS with accidentally OD’d on it. They didn’t know that what they were taking had fentanyl in it. It’s terrible.
It’s laced in a lot of shite now, including Xanax that you get off the street. You can blame that on the Mexican Cartels and the Chinese. It’s absolutely fricking terrible.
New York Times.

I have been put to sleep 19 times for surgery. And I believe it was used on me in all of them. I have had at least three over 4 hour operations. It’s very dangerous to keep someone asleep for that long.

Probably never enjoyed an all afternoon BB gun war either.

I have a friend (Game Warden) who was in a jeep/Humvee/whatever that hit a camel going about 60 MPH during Bush War #1 in Iraq. We was being prescribed OxyContin in 200 tablet bottles and still would cry out from time to time if he moved wrong.
Then they put him on Fentanyl patches and now he is fine. Goes to work every day and does his job. Was with him when he took on an 8 foot long angry alligator in some guy's cow pasture, so maybe the stuff makes him fearless - I don't know.

Those with any kind of close exposure to addiction would not wish it on their worst enemy. It can destroy people, families, friends...

Fentanyl has been used in almost all labor epidurals for the past 30 years.
