Why do rental car companies over-state the vehicle class?

reserved a Full-size, got a Chrysler 200, it was either that or a Malibu. Neither of which are full sized.
Seems like a lie.

Compact cars should be described as go-carts

seems like if a car is a mid-size you call it a mid-size.
I hear full size I think something big. Largest car they had was a Malibu. Unless I stepped up to Premium.

Use the "pick any car in the isle" people. I've never gotten anything smaller than a Camry. Usually it's something pretty nice.

They all classify a Cruze, Focus, or Corolla as "mid sized".

that is only at the airport, I got the Fullsize for $188 a week through Costco via Enterprise.

I'm not sitting in the back seat so I shouldn't care anyway.

Weird perk of traveling for work every week is that I get to try out a bunch of new cars for about 4-5 days at a time.

Not sure I'd buy a 200 but it's okay as a rental. I judge rentals by how quickly I can pair my phone to the infotainment, the visibility, sight lines, design quality, interior, and general ergonomics. Chrysler's build quality is bad but their cars are straightforward and fairly well designed IMO.

Camry, Malibu, Fusion, 200, Sonata....all solid choices. So is the Passat, Impala, Maxima, or Avalon.

Ford Taurus maybe the worst car I've driven in years. I get stuck with them often and I think they are a terrible design.
