I think there is a certain percentage of fans, especially at the game, that accidentally drink too much. It does happen.

That's why I always recommend game day catheters.

I used to associate games with getting trashed, but I associated most everything with getting trashed. WHile a student, there were times where I had to check the newspaper the next morning to see if we'd won or not and I was AT THE GAME. Ridiculous. I figured out that the all day tailgating thing for me just didn't work, so I'd arrive later in the day so I didn't get too drunk and either miss or black out for the games. When it comes to drinking for me, it's a sprint and not a marathon.
Since I've stopped drinking, I find the games so much more fun and I actually pay attention to specific matchups, notice how the O line plays, individual players, ect. I assume that I'm also much more pleasant to be sitting next to at a game. I'm sure I've ruined the experience for many many people and I truly regret that.
Everything is more fun sober for me. I don't even attempt anything Mardi Gras related. No parades, balls, nothing like that. I also spend a lot less money and haven't been arrested a single time while I've been sober.

I don't get it either. Not that I haven't done it in the past.

but why spend the entire game getting trashed?
For me, would depend on if winning or losing.

I get absolutely tanked at every sports thingy I go to
I yell shite at the players and coaches and refs
Come at me pussy

Because if I’m drunk, I’ll be on my feet yelling, making noise, and not giving a shite what people around me think. If I’m sober, I’ll probably sit there and analyze the game in quietness like the boomers at the PMAC
