I can't see his avatar but with a ruh-tarded question like "why do people thank God that they're not starving & without food like so many other unfortunate" I doubt anybody takes her serious anyways.

I'd say being grateful you have a job that allows you to feed yourself and your family is enough reason for some to pray.

I'll give what may be your only serious answer... Christians, try to act better.
In the Bible is an account of Jesus having His last meal with the disciples. He says, each time you do this, remember me (paraphrased). The tradition of remembering Christ at each meal, as well as the more familiar sacrament/Eucharist, comes from that narrative.
