My hairline is a 4, but I still don't have the open spot on the back of my head, although it's pretty thin.
I keep mine buzzed fairly short. Still refuse to shave completely cause I have a huge head.

I started shaving mine when I was in the military and never stopped. I haven't paid for a haircut since 1999.
At least 1 haircut per month at $15... $180/yr. I've saved over $3500 by shaving it.

I started using clippers with no guard when I got to about stage 4. Baldness runs in my family so I knew it was coming and there's no way in hell I'm going to be a combover guy.
When I had a full head of hair I was actually pretty vain about it and if it wasn't perfect I was annoyed.
Clipping it all off was very freeing and I'm glad I did it. I use clippers or a clean shave once a week, it's fast, easy, and free. I actually like the "5 o'clock shadow" on head and face look and so does my wife. It's no maintenance and luckily in style.
Hair is great and all, but life is too short to obsess over.

Oh great, way to not discount the razor blades you've gone through. You're such a con man.

I've bought 2 or 3 electric razors... so factor in $100 or less for expenses, homo.

I shave mine down with walmart clippers and no guard about every 2-3 weeks.
My reasons:
1. My daughter tells me to cut it when I begin to "look like a creepy old pedo."
2 My gf says I look sexy when it's freshly cut and my face is scruffy.

I'm a solid 3 but I'm not thinning at all in the back. Just a bad receding hairline in the front. It's very depressing and I'm pretty self conscious about it.
I have a tiny pin head though so I'm pretty sure I would look like a jackass if I shave it all off.

Scruffy is a 2 and shaves his to a #3 Because it looks better and he has pretty thin hair that gets scraggly.

Could possibly check out. Do you find yourself asking to deliver pizza to all the high school graduation parties every May?

I paid less than $20 for something like this about 5 years ago.

Why don't men all let their hair grow as long as women do?
Why don't women all keep their hair short like men do?
Its not necessarily to hide baldness. It's just that we prefer to shave it.
I think i'd look super dumb fully crowned if I let what little hair I have grow out. Just a preference.

Pretty much.
It looks terrible.
I call them ‘dickheads’.

I'm probably at 6. I've been shaving my head with no guard since 19. I'm not sure at 40 I'd grow it out if I could because I'm so used to the almost zero maintenance.

I shaved my head bald in HS Thursdays before football games. A girl friend would draw a purple paw print on my head in 1st hour. It was a cheesy fun HS thing. The coach made me wash it off before games.
My Sr English teacher told me "You have a perfect shaped head for that haircut."
So when I began to bald in my 30s, it was a no brainer to just go with crew cut or whatever clipping it close as possible is called.

I'm surprised you didn't blow some guy out back in the warehouse to let you walk out with it.
