Why do dogs always drop their toys as soon as they get comfortable.

Every dog I’ve ever know, gets a toy, jumps on the couch, gets super comfortable, starts chewing on its toy, only for the toy to fall of the couch and for the dog to get dismayed

That’s great and accurate

I don’t know. I’m still trying to figure out why all the dogs I’ve had always look back at me while they poop in the yard. I can’t tell if they are embarrassed or it’s something in their pack mentality before they became domesticated. I don’t think it’s because they are embarrassed because my dog sure isn’t shy about hiking his leg and pissing on everything outside.

OMG dogs, right? We don't deserve them and whatnot.

They are vulnerable and look at you to read your face for any sign of danger

Supposedly they are in a vulnerable position & are making sure you are there to protect them
Mine only plays with toys when another dog is around
She’s slowed down a lot in the last year

Never thought about feeling vulnerable but that makes sense. Funny that’s still in their mindset because my dog won’t even bark at anyone knocking on the door. A complete stranger can come over and he thinks it’s someone delivering food. I have to admit I laugh every time I take him out front. He walks to the mailbox, sniffs it, then pisses on it. Then walks to both sides of the property and pisses on the speed limit sign and light pole. Guess he’s leaving his business card for the ladies and telling male dogs stay off his turf. That’s probably how the phrase getting into a pissing was coined.
