Im 23 now, married with a kid on the way, work 55+ hours a week, bought a house at 21 and a truck the next day, own a boat, been working my whole life, started my current job at 19 once I realized I had no idea as to what degree I wanted. I put God first then family and friends, I would never call myself a millenial or associate with these asshat kids that think they should be given everything they want.

Yup. Im 34 and could be lumped in with those sorry sacks of shite, but I doubt anyone would label me as such. I have a good job, and no Facebook account

I always laugh really hard when people wear the "no Facebook account" like a gold medal. You do know Facebook has a lot of positives right?

Congrats on the dead-end job and the inevitable midlife crisis lurking in the background.

One day when you are 40 something, you will roll over, stare at an empty bed and realize that you wasted your life away.

You will manage to get to work through that hangover, cuss about your manager under your breath because you think that he's a kid and doesn't understand business, and still slug through the same job you have today.

After work, you will want to visit your kids but the wife has custody and is being plowed by some computer nerd that lives two cities away and makes three fold your salary.

Ahhhhhh...the American Dream!

Were you BORN in '79, or CONCEIVED in '79?
Big difference.

If you were conceived in '79 , but born in '80, would be one of those rare badasses that transcend decades.

Congrats, but this is a dumb move financially given the current rate environment and the growth opportunities available elsewhere.

Congrats on taking on all that debt when you have a newborn on the way, guaranteeing that you will have to work 55+ hours a week perpetually.

See, Part of it is on their friends .... When we were 6-10 years old in mid-late 80s, we would hold fight clubs in the dark spaces between 2 houses where the roofs overlapped that was always cold, muddy, & wet.

Some of the best times of my life, grinning back to my house with ears swoll up and blood on my knuckles. Puerto Ricans, blacks, Mexicans, Caucasuans... All of us threw down regularly,
Nobody would f with us except the people that wanted to Join. (Oh, and inb4 yoursuchabadass) ha we had fun

What's a millenial? Certain age group? What's the criteria?
It's defined as "anyone younger than me whose lifestyle is one that I don't understand or agree with"

Defense spending is over 50% of the discretionary spending, but that's only a fraction of the overall budget. There's also mandatory spending and interest on federal debt.

Sounds like you followed the script to a T.

I have nothing against people living the normal scripted life, but don't come here and brag about it like that's what makes you happy or successful. Plenty of people have no desire to spend their days on this Earth working 55+ hours a week. Plenty of people have no desire to buy a house and hunker down in the same place at 21 years old.

If that's your thing, more power to you, but don't act like that is the path to success.

Clearly, the Congressional Budget Office doesn't know anything about the budget. (yes sarcasm)

Well that's kinda what I was thinking. The pie chart claims the CBO as it's source so I was wondering where he got the notion that it was wrong. It's like people are unaware that entitlement spending is now like 50% of the Federal budget and they just can't accept it when the facts tell them that's the case.

This entire thread is pure idiocy. I can feel my neural pathways degrading after only a page of this mindless drivel. Christ some of you folks are off the fricking rails.
