I have found a few things there for my daughter. Better luck at the Red, White and Blue thrift stores, where I found her a $150 London Fog coat for $7 and got myself a couple light jackets for $5 each. Like they had never been worn.
They also sometimes have large framed classic art prints (Monet, Picasso, van Gogh, etc.) if you need to decorate some walls, or turn around and sell when you can get them for $10.

Using it as a verb, “garage saling” isn’t even a word and “garage sailing” sounds like you are on a boat, so I always say “garage selling”

My Plato's story: My daughter was a young fashion model/actor and met a number of well-known people in entertainment. She was invited by one such acquaintance to go out to L.A. to visit and watch rehearsal for her television show. We shopped for an appropriate wardrobe for the trip and she got a real cute dress and shoes, but knowing that tv studios can be chilly due to compensation for the heat from lighting and electronics we were searching for a light jacket to go with the outfit. We finally found the perfect one at Plato's Closet.
Between the rehearsal scenes daughter is hanging out with the three young actresses, who are wearing shoes that cost eight hundred to a thousand dollars. Designers send them all that shite for free because, well, they are "influencers". One of the girls admires her outfit, touches the jacket and asks, "Is that Betsy Johnson (a designer)?" For a moment I anticipated that she would respond, "Oh no, my dad got this from Plato's Closet for five dollars!"

Is this a commercial? What's your connection to this business?
