Why cant these parents just keep sending your kids to catholic high, st joes, st judes etc. These people are snobby and racist! You create a new city so your kid doesn't mix with little black, Asian, and Hispanics!!
Because they are middle class racist and it's hard on the pocket book to send their kids to private school. They would rather use the money to buy some luxury SUV so that their neighbor thinks they have money while their credit cards are maxed out.
Additionally black, asian and hispanic kids bring down their perception of the school system. Can't mixed with them colored folks.

People for St. George also want a more conservative government. That's something you will never get from the Dems running BR.

St. George isn't surviving off of those 100k in the city and there aren't enough jobs for them in that area either.
Why do they need to have jobs in that city?

I own rental property inside the city and in the proposed city of St George.
Yes, you will pay alittle more in property taxes. At the end of the day having neighborhood schools will eventually pay off and raise property values.
Guess what if you stay in Baton Rouge yes your taxes will eventually go up also.
CATS tax how did that work for my tenants except me having to raise rent. Services are not that much better.
Eventually we will pay more taxes for EBRPSS due to guess what those buses that run these kids all over town cost a lot of money to operate. I don't see test scores going up, but we are going to throw more and more money at this broken system.
DPW look at all the stolen equipment and no one is accountable. We pay more taxes and receive less and less services from them. DPW head man even said on WAFB TV he will not replace stolen equipment. That means we are paying for services we are not receiving due to he cannot manage his dept. They contracted the solid waste services out lets contract the DPW out.
Sad part either way we are going to pay more.
You can stay unincorporated and pay more money which some of it goes to city services which you never will see.
or
You can pay more taxes to benefit your own community which you may see a benefit in higher property values with people wanting to move to areas with neighborhood schools.

They don't. The point I was making is that the silo approach to this campaign isn't going to help the region.

Son... Once you finally get laid you may have a kid. Now when your little one goes to school, are you ok with him having a C, D, or F opportunity? You can say you are now, but you won't be. It's natural, people love their kids and want the best for them. Most people would like a decent education with out having to shell out $10k a year. At least have the option of a decent school.
I know you're young and still reeling from the fact that your world of Warcraft playing homie has slayed more gut than you. But $10,000 is a lot of money to people that actually have to earn it.

You're telling me those living in unincorporated EBR never use BR proper services?
And what prop taxes is someone paying in unincorporated BR that they never see?

Get the frick out of here with that shite.. I may be against st George but it's bait like this that infuriates me.. The racial makeup of the proposed city isn't some white Mecca..

I think what he's saying is, is that they are getting shitty service for their money. Basically, EBR politicians have lost the right to handle their money. I don't really blame them. If this goes through it's not the fault of St. George residents, it's BR's fault.

Golfer .. You can rest assured .. If this does down, I will run for Mayor of St. George !

St. George is already to a bad start. It appears some state politicians want their hands on the St. George money. There's already shady contracts and a revelation that the main organizer is a political consultant that doesn't even live in St George but is paid quid pro quo through bogus no-bid state contracts.

to recap, we have a company that is barely a month old landing a $717,000 contract with a state agency without benefit of competitive bidding, or without a formal proposal from a contracting firm that provided no evidence of its qualifications to perform work that appears to be already available

Funny I rent property to people that live in the proposed area that are African American. The area has changed over from white to more African America. They got St George signs in their yards and they want the same thing as the so called racist white people. Better schools for their children which all good parents want for their kids no matter what race.

Are they not represented at the council level?

Shenandoah, Wedgewood, and Hickory Ridge is easily 25% African American now .. It isn't just a "white thing" ..

I don't know. I live in Zachary so I don't really GAF. Haven't been following. I imagine they are represented but that the North BR residents have as much or more representation without paying near the same taxes so the city council is basically spending St. Georges money.
I don't really know, just guessing.

His actions indicate otherwise. He supports big government ideals. He has proposed nothing to better schools, is soft on crime, and favors more spending on poorly run social programs. Sounds like a Dem to me.

There are like 4 people on the council where either most, or half of their district includes St. George
