We undergo a lot of industry specific training that does not transfer well. This woman has the added problem that she lives in Brazil and their economy is awful right now. She is looking at pulling up stakes and leaving her country with her boy in order to find work.

My next move will be to San Diego so since I have time I'm waiting on the right job and good pay. Have been sending out resumes for about 4 months now.

I started pointing it out around September/October of last year and was laughed at by a lot of people here in the oilfield

Most people I've come across in oil & gas have been very good people who work hard. Of course, there have been assholes but they had assholes when I was a waiter in college.

I'm mainly referring to my company. I work for a major oil producer.

I know it was down but it was still around $80 per and the point of my post was all of the people laughing at me for pointing out it was going to get worse. One of them is even a crude buyer that should know how supply and demand works but was so far off it's pretty laughable. Just pointing out the denial by many on here. Read the threads I linked. It's crazy.

BTW, A guy I know just liquidated his oil business and only held on to two wastewater wells. He thinks we still haven't seen the bottom and he's been in the business for decades.

I know people who made 6 digits for several years and instead of saving money for "hard times" they want on lavish spending sprees and rubbed in my face how they made more than me without all the education. Hard to feel sorry for them as well now that they claim they have nothing.

buy high sell low?

I'd have to be in a pretty big cash flow crunch to sell anything right now

No, I don't pay for my gas but my company is happy about it.

That's an understatement. Unless something happens in the world landscape the bottom should come around Q2.

He is. He spent millions on those wastewater wells.

To be fair, I only know about a dozen that work out there, and well they are all like that, especially the wives, so I do not know a fair representation of the people that work there.

I've worked for a major oil / gas company for 25 years. I have bought a lot of company stock in my 401k throughout the years. Luckily I sold a good bit of it a few years back and reinvested in mutual funds. My 401k is still taking a beaten this year due to the low oil prices. I can't retire for another 10 years. Hopefully oil prices will rebound by then.

How do you figure? OPEC won't cut and demand growth has slowed considerably.

It seems to be the general consensus that this is when things will bottom out. It's expected it will remain at this level and not improve until sometime in 2017.
