Br does have one of the best library systems i've ever seen. Unfortunately, none are convenient for me to get to.

I grew up in Shenadoah, had a perfect childhood. After college I lived in Houston, Atlanta, Washington, DC and traveled the whole country and many parts of the world.
When I got married and had a kid, decided to move back home to BR. I LOVE IT HERE! It's been 3 years and I'm still happy every day to be back here.

Yeah I seriously hate the rain. It makes me physically feel depressed. Never realized how much it affected me until I moved away. The constant sunny days here is perfect for me.
If I ever moved it would have to be to another place with lots of sunshine and mountains nearby and no severe cold weather, no major natural disasters and no humidity.
I would have suggested where I am, Palo Alto, but there is the small matter of living on a faultline. But, being an hour tops from the ocean/beach is good. Mountains are close enough.
Also, this is 1,000,000,000x better than BR was.

Present. Never left, so I can't really "return".

If I had more money I could see myself really enjoying living in Cali.
My brother is actually moving to San Fran soon. Don't know how long he'll make it out there though. He's a starving artist and has friends already out there.

Born and raised in this great city and never plan on moving. That will change if liberals take over the city. I don't need progress. I don't need places to do things. I rarely go anywhere and am perfectly content.
I have always said, however, that if I did not live in Baton Rouge, Omaha would be an awesome place to live based on my 4 trips there. Of course, those trips have all been in May, so I might think differently after one winter.
As a libertarian who wants the absolute minimum government involvement in my life, Texas would not be so bad. Because of that, I will never in my life live in a blue state. I would be constantly angry at the ways the government would tried to control my life and the taxes it would take.

That sounds miserable.

What's wrong with that? Grew up in BR and just because the man has lived here is whole life and is content doesn't mean he has to visit other places to find happiness.

He said he doesn't go anywhere as in leave his house, not BR.
He said he doesn't care that BR doesn't have fun places to go do stuff cause he stays home all the time.

To each his own. I love working, which I do from home all day. I am fully capable of keeping myself entertained. I don't need constant attention from others to feel self worth. I spend time with my close friends and family on the weekends at their houses or a restaurant or a movie. I hate bars or going out in general, so any kind of "night scene" or whatever one would call it has no draw for me.

He rarely goes anywhere....except the 4 times he went to Omaha. Haha

Yeah but "places to do things" can mean more than just going to bars and clubs.

"Work from home all day" =stare at computer screen all day
"Spend time with close friends and family" = no women and needs to get laid
Do you have time for that?

I honestly have no clue what people mean by that. Restaurants and a movie theater are places to do things and every city in America has that. What else do people mean when they say "places to do things"? I always assumed they meant more bars and clubs.

Of the above, only museums even remotely interest me. I only care to watch sporting events from the comfort of my or another's home, I don't play golf, I certainly don't like shopping, could not care less about nature (covers parks and trails), and I hate live music (way way way too loud). I get my museum fix every other year or so on vacation, which is plenty. So I guess BR is the perfect place for one such as me.
