re: White Boy Privilege- 8th grader poem

There are about to be a lot of pissed off politards in here shortly.

I think that kid probably gets beat up a lot and thinks this will help with that. Now he is just going to get beat up by different people.

I bet his daddy's proud. My boy ever does or feels that way he'll be black...... and blue when I'm done whopping that arse. WTF is wrong with white peoples...

Absolutely sickening. Are all these white people complainng about white privilege doing anything about it but complaining? Are they walking through the nearest hood and inviting them in to live in their homes and throwing money at them? I mean since they feel soooo much guilt they should give up their plush lifestyle that they worked for and hand it over right.

The only way we can move forward is if the black community comes to the realization that its culture is in crisis. The problem with BLM and white privilege is that it seems to render that talking point both irrelevant and offensive. They highlight the symptoms, but fail to see the disease, the cause of their strife.

We are a COMMUNITY. We all have to work together. You can't put the entire burden on white people just because of slavery and Jim Crow. I'm sorry. You just can't. Why? Because white people can't change black culture.

Does that mean white people don't have to do anything? Nope. They still have to basically love their neighbor as they love themselves. Not a religious thing. It is what our western culture is based on.

But a lot of the things that plague poor blacks today seemed from Jim Crow. The over policing of poor black communities and arrests for non violent crimes has done significant damage to the community. For instance, the lack of health care has created a perpetual cycle of bad credit

This is not the same as Jim Crow. Jim Crow laws were SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to make black people suffer inferiority. They literally made distinctions between black and white policies for funding and crimes. Today, the laws do not do that. You are confusing discriminatory by design with discriminatory by effect.

Police officers are trained to arrest for crimes. They really aren't supposed to pick and choose. And, they police those areas because of the violent crimes. If a guy is tagging a building with a gang sign, an officer should arrest him. That kind of person is statistically likely to commit a violent crime later on. They need to have a record of him. It's not because he's black. It's because he is tagging a set for purposes of establishing territory for criminal activity. That comes from a culture problem.

And the culture problem is not entirely their fault. The policies against them created a culture of distrust of the establishment, a culture against authority. It has to change, and white people can't do that. What white people can do is think of the what is best for the public good, which means the people of the past, present, and future. Now, this too requires a culture change, for American culture does not do that.

There is no easy fix to this. It's going to be hard. But, if you look at what has happened so far in our history, does any reasonable person think there is an easy fix to this?

This is a socioeconomic problem, not one that is exclusive to blacks.
