Outside the state is definitely Leesville due to the proximity to Ft. Polk.

Deridder has a very distinct olfactory recognition from me due to the papermill.

Deridder has Mennonites in the outskirts and Leesville has a failed socialist colony (New Llano).

Wampum cats is a much cooler mascot than the dragons.

Deridder HS gym either had short rims or a very springy floor (really easy to dunk there).

Leesville was the location of John Prime’s song “Donald and Lydia”

For the old times, was “Hog Heaven” (the water slide” between the two, or north of Leesville? I remember that as a kid, in addition to driving by “the Pussycat” in Leesville. Was that a normal bar or a titty bar?

You are right about that. The floor was some type of composite. Bench was below the court too. Weird gym. Hard place to play. But Sims had something to do with that.

As a young pup, spent many a weekend in sleezville drinking, since DeRidder was dry. The good old days.
