This is the clear answer. Coonasses and Cheeseheads have a ton in common.
They are way more conservative in Wisconsin. Michigan is the correct answer. Once great city ruined by democratic politics. A state that insists on voting democratic governor when they know democratic politics have ruined good parts of the state. Heavy union influence. Terrific outdoors. Strong allegiance to instate colleges. Known for small city speed traps (Golden Meadow). Expensive car insurance (Michigan is most expensive state). Large chemical industry.

I vote Maine as well. Extreme weather (cold! vs our hot!) Heavy drinkers. Friendly. healthy fishing population. Obsessed with crustaceans.... the only thing they are missing is a good sports team.

ME, VT, NH, and even Upstate NY still have people with Cajun-sounding surnames. A lot of them even look a little Delhomme-esque, though on average they have paler skin that Cajuns.

Hence the Northern version of LA?

So half of Baton Rouge, and most of New Orleans?
....were you trying to prove my point?

Yeah, my first answer was going to be Vermont, but I think Maine works even better. It's also kind of its own little version of "Sportsman's Paradise." Yankees vacation up there and hire hunting / fishing guides.
