Exactly. Imagine spending $455 on a car that is not custom built, and pulling up to a red lights and some other rich a-hole pulls up with the same thing. If I’m spending that on a vehicle, it is going to be one of a kind, or have wings.

That being said those two cars are about as close to a drivers race as you will get in the 1/4 mile,

To your point, the published 1/4 mile times for the GTD is 10.6 @ 133mph, the Z06 is 10.5 @ 131 mph. Impressive time by the Corvette considering a NA engine.

ZR1’s 1/4 time is 9.6 @ 149 mph.

These cars are more suited for roll racing than from a dig, 60-130 is where it’s at for street racing.

Is that the cheapest you can build a car like that? 99% of people that see it on the road wouldn’t know it. Not saying that matters, but I’m just curious?

It’s the fastest ‘stock’ car from the factory but what about a non stock car? It seems hard to believe you couldn’t build a better car for $400k but I’m ignorant here.

Withou getting into the weeds the simple answer is yes you can easily build a road track car that is faster than a GTD, GT3RS or a Corvette of any flavor that is better and faster on the track for a lot less money. If you want a great track car and don't want to build it just buy a used 911 Cup car with a fresh engine and transmission. That is an actual race car and will cost a lot less money used. The same is true for a drag car, you can build a drag car that destroys a Demon in the 1/8 and 1/4 for a lot less money. I mean a Fox body stripped out with a junkyard motor and a turbo with be a fraction of a Demon.

There has always been a dick swinging contest with production cars and "times". Nordschleife times have become a de facto standard for road cars. It is like 0-60 and 1/4 miles times for those with a straight line fetish. In the grand scheme it don't mean shite but it is still impressive. One problem that is starting to bubble up is street cars are starting to have far too much horsepower for their chassis. An example is the Koenigsegg One:1. When they decided they wanted to do an official N'ring time they approached pro drivers and all but one said frick no. The one that agreed crashed on his first times lap attempt and wrote off the chassis. The ZR1X is getting into that territory it just doesn't have the mechanical and aero grip for its weight and power.

This mustang tracked better than the gt3rs

Where? I can see them trading lap times at different tracks but nobody has the track car for the street acumen like Porsche except some of the companies that just build track day specials.

I have no idea how it stacks up against an RS, but this is a Ford Mustang in name and badge only. It’s designed and built by Multimatic.

It is a little like the new Ferrari F80; they are making quite a few of them, but unless you are going to a Cars and Coffee in Dubai, you aren't likely to see another one beside you at a light. It is also why Porsche has their Exclusive and Paint to Sample programs and Ferrari has their Tailor Made program so if you want a one of one they will build you a one of one as long as you can pay the freight.

Quite impressive x-ray vision. Not only through the garage doors but also the back of the house too.

If he spent $455k, his is likely one of one. Ford let GTD owners do pretty much anything they want…for a price. I think MSRP for these is $330k.

I love mustangs but I don't know why anybody would buy that for $325k+ when you can get better performance from a zr1 Corvette for nearly half the price

Completely different use cases. Ones a race car and the other is a bonkers street car.

That's not logical to me since the street car would beat the race car in a race (and it's nearly half the price)

Eta: the mustang is also street legal

No it wouldn’t. The GTD will destroy the vette after it blows its wad in 3 laps.
