That's not really true... it's just in a secondary city center.

Do Jackson, Shreveport, Beaumont, and Montgomery have over 200,000?

Because they are all underwhelming. Especially Beaumont.

Mobile, Alabama used to suck but it’s looking good lately. Baton Rouge is okay…it’s saved by the riverfront and the capitol complex. Little Rock is okay. Oklahoma City was bad for it’s size until the massive Devon was built, but I don’t like to pick on them for they given that at least one of their mid rises were blown up by a terrorist.

Beaumont and Lafayette are bad. Might not be over 200k though.

Beaumont at least has a couple of neat old Art Deco towers. Lafayette’s got nothing.

Chicago is building them faster than NYC. You also have big ones going up in Atlanta and Austin still, as well as a few other places

Austin has done well getting the tech companies downtown. They tend to go for sprawling suburban campuses.

Paris’s modern skyline is hideous compared to the rest of the city. That contrast is jarring.

I think one of them is abandoned.

The days of new office towers being built in mid sized cities are probably numbered. A lot of places are converting them into apartments. Not sure if Beaumont's downtown could support that, but it might be time to think about it.

Any “worst of” relating to cities should start with Birmingham as the standard to compare against.

Birmingham’s seems to me perfectly commensurate for a city of its size. I guess maybe that’s why you’re suggesting as a baseline here?

How about you qualify it as a city 200K+ that isnt a suburb to a major city.

Metairie easily has 200,000 residents. Probably closer to double that.
