Where's the intersecting point of racism and history?

With the renewed talk of removing all evidence of the Civil War, where do we stop? Do we erase all of the early settlement names?
How about Jefferson City?
Washington State and DC?
Is this line of thinking somehow only relevent to the Civil War?
Do these idiots not realize that Grant owned a slave? Do we need to change the names of all cities named after early presidents?

St. Petersburg, was Leningrad, was Petrograd.
