I watched it on TV then wife and I went to eat, we had no more gotten to the restaurant and a friend called me and told me the bad news. I knew it looked bad when it happened, and then when they were running over to his car I knew it was bad, but just figured he would be hurt bad not killed. I haven't watched much since.

skiing in Steamboat, DE was actually renting a condo from me in Ormond Beach at the time of his death, he had rented from me there for a couple of years

I was working at Toys R Us that year and all the Dale Earnhardt car models immediately sold out.
