And their women recognize this fact.
Only problem is we have to teach them to cook

GDP isn't per capita. The ports makes Louisiana's numbers slightly inflated. Louisiana and Alabama are pretty close when it comes to per capita income.

You're correct. Alabama is ahead of Louisiana as far as median household income is concerned but it's fairly close.

Louisiana actually ranks considerably higher when it comes to GDP per capita though which is measured by dividing each state's GDP by the state's overall population

Median household income (2023) according to census data:

23) Texas - $75,780
25) Georgia - $74,632
30) Florida - $73,311
39) Missouri - $68,545
40) South Carolina - $67,804
42) Tennessee - $67,631
44) Alabama - $62,212
45) Oklahoma - $62,138
46) Kentucky - $61,118
47) Arkansas - $58,700
48) Louisiana - $58,229
50) Mississippi - $54,203

2023 GDP per capita or GDP per resident (GDP divided by state's overall 2023 population)

Georgia - $75,196
Tennessee - $73,164
Missouri - $69,265
Louisiana - $68,656
Oklahoma - $63,240
Kentucky - $61,530
South Carolina - $60,692
Alabama - $59,597
Arkansas - $58,316
Mississippi - $51,307

Sounds like the O&G industry is off and running again. Also places like Lake Charles saw a signifcant population jump from 2023 to 2024 after considerable losses from the start of the pandemic up until 2023 while both the Baton Rouge and Lafayette metros continued their solid steady growth. Just need to reverse the trend of NOLA losing population and then the entire I-10/I-12 corridor will be back on track

Louisiana tends to thrive whenever O&G picks up which should be the case the next couple of years with Trump in office

Both Texas and California could survive as their own countries considering both states by themselves would rank as 2 of the 10 largest economies in the world.

Heaven forbid it would ever happen but if either Texas or California were to secede from the U.S. I think you'd see several states leave and join them as a separate country.

If California seceded I could see Oregon, Washington, and probably Hawaii joining them

If Texas seceded, I think you'd see several of the southern states and many of the Great Plains states joining them fairly rapidly. I think the East Coast/Eastern Time Zone states in the South including Florida would initially hold off but as soon as either Florida or Georgia made then Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina would jump as well likely creating the 2nd largest economy in the world behind China and likely ahead of what's left of the U.S.
