When you were a kid, how long did it take to work up the courage to jump off the roof?

When I was 3 or 4 the teenager across the street would jump off his roof onto an old mattress. I wanted to be like him so bad. My mother caught me several times trying to find a way to get up on my roof.

And if you had, you would have sat on the edge of the roof for 30 minutes thinking about it.
