When is it too late for solicitors to come to your door?

Just had one come by 10 minutes ago and try to sell me a digital alarm system. I was nice to the kid, but said no and that I was in the middle of eating dinner with my family.

I know these guys have to make a living and that 2 pm in the afternoon will yield no results. Coming by close to dark, though?

Who has a non-soliciting neighborhood? Do they respect it?

Any time is too late. I refuse to buy anything from anyone trying to solicit sales to me that I don't initiate.

They were too busy trying to teach my kids that plural nouns do not need apostrophes.

Put a sign up saying solicitors will be shot on site. You also may want to add pictures to your sign since many of the kids selling magazines to keep them out of gangs may not be able to read.

Anytime between 12:01 am and midnight is too late.

Honestly, that business model died with the birth of the Internet. If I wanted to buy something, I would have bought it. No one bothering me at my house is going to convince me.

Oh, you are selling an alarm system? Why didn't I think of buying this before now?! I've never heard of this magic!

Oh, you are peddling termite protection? Termites can destroy a home?! Why am I just now learning about this? Good thing you showed up directly at my house out of the blue or else I never would have been able to conveniently make this purchase.

We are a no soliciting and the sheriff will either arrest or escort out. Just an FYI- some of the alarm companies contract out to out of state kids who are brought in and dropped off. Not a great situation.

If it's young kids doing something for school, any time before 9. I remember having to sell crap after baseball practice so I have sympathy. Adults? Get off my lawn

We had that in our neighborhood at 7 a couple of weeks ago. The guy was selling coupons or some shite. We had just put the baby down when he rang the doorbell. Half our neighborhood called The police and they ran him out.

I usually tell them now is not a good time, but if I could get your address I'll come to your house 1st thing in the morning and we can discuss it then. I'll then tell them I usually get going around 6 am.

They ignore the signs in my neighborhood. Guy came by at 8:30 one night and banged on the door instead of ringing the door bell. Needless to say he ain't coming back

It is a good idea to be strapped when a stranger shows up at the door unannounced.
