Do you even understand the volume of satellites needed for this to work and cost associated with getting them built. Right now SpaceX is running circles around the behemoths of every other space launch provider. He has the ability to get his versions to space for a fraction of the cost others will.
Musk is worth more as an individual, than ATT or Verizon. Think about that and let it process for a moment. Both of those legacy telecoms are drowning with historical debt and infrastructure.
To summarize - SpaceX can do it cheaper and more efficient. It is not a battle old Telecoms will win. Just look at Boeing

Just a month ago he said companies backing off EV investment in favor of hybrids are making a huge mistake.
He continuously reaffirms his belief that climate change is one of the largest existential threats we face.
