Over the span of a few years, Ford had unveiled the Mustang, won at Le Mans, and vanquished its fuddy-duddy image.

Uhhh it was the GT40 that won Le Mans. Not the shite mustang.

ETA. I mis read that quote. Now I see what it’s saying.

Not only did they beat them at their own game, they rubbed Ferrari's nose in shite. Finished 1-2-3, and beat Ferrari's vaunted V12, with a modified Galaxy 500 V8, which only modification was Westlake cylinder heads.

I absolutely love that ford did this. Ferrari said no to ford buying them, so ford decided to beat them at their own game. Love it!

After the battle in '69 neither has won Lemans since.

Ferrari made the correct decision whether it caused him to lose Lemans or not, Ford would have been a horrible caretaker for the Ferrari brand.

Can't wait for the movie.

Matt Damon is way too short to play Ol' Shel, but it's about racing so I'll damn sure watch it.
