Almost never. I still have Polo rugby shirts (even have the rubber buttons) and others circa 1995-8).

We have a rule in my house where if you buy something new, something old has to go. Everyone has so much space. If it has been hanging there through a season and you haven't put it on, it is time to get rid of it. That don't mean new stays and older goes.

Guarantee you i could fill someone's closet with clothes I haven't worn in many years. I brought 5 30gal bags full to the salvation army store last year. Need to finish

Once you decide, if they are still wearable, donate them to Goodwill or some charity.

Same here. The stuff we don't wear for one reason or another is bagged and donated to Goodwill or something like a youth shelter to be used by them.
Underwear, old socks and worn out shoes are the only things that get tossed in the trash.

I don't usually throw away old clothes. If I am sure that I will not wear an item again, I cut the fabric into squares for a patchwork quilt.

Donate them to the animal shelter thrift store.
If they aren't good to sell, they'll be recycled into dog bedding.

Some stuff I keep a while. T-shirts from where I worked before I keep as keepsakes.

Don’t give them to goodwill
They’re gonna sell your holey drawers for 30 bucks

I have clothes that I like and wear out and there is stuff that I bought and can't figure out why they were purchased in the first place.
Those wind up at the end of the clothes rack and are taken to Goodwill.

I wish I owned goodwill
Like you bring them 10k worth of stuff and they give you a slip so you can get a $300 tax deduction then they turn around and sell your old t shirts for 20 bucks
All the while they get government money for hiring special needs people
I wonder if Mr goodwill ceo even has to pay taxes on his billions or if goodwill is tax exempt somehow
