When did men start getting invited to baby showers?

I made it 37 years on God's green Earth without having to ever attend one. I've always understood them to be female-only deals, yet I am being dragged to my SIL's for one today.

Is this normal now or did I just get shitty luck?

I had my close friends/dad come to mine and I’ve gone to a few for my close friends.

That sounds like bs to me. Next they’ll be talking you into cucking yourself. Stand your ground now before it’s too late.

I have been invited to some over the years. It’s usually family or our close friends and I enjoy seeing these people, even if it’s at a shower. It’s nice to be together for a happy occasion.
Many had alcohol too so that helped.
I’m not miserable though and I like people.

Me too, generally. I just wanted to fish today.

it’s relatively new. I’ve gone to a few in the last couple of years, but I actually like hanging out with my friends so it doesn’t bother me.

Now what I won’t do is go to a couples baby shower for some random person that my spouse knows or works with.

If guys are invited then its just a party. Have some beers, eat some food, and ignore the rest.

I guess ~10 years ago?

I've been to two, not counting ones held at the office. One of them included a cookout to make it more enjoyable for the guys. The other was during the pandemic.

I don't see the problem. They're supposed to be your friends so celebrating an important moment in their lives is a good thing.

Exactly. Guys get caught up in things that are "supposed" to be for women and dont want to go but its just a party with friends.

Sorry Berg, there is just no fkin way imma going to a baby shower unless it is my daughters and then I have no choice.

My wife knows better than to even ask me.

The “let’s play stupid baby themed party games!” showers are usually still gendered, but the “let’s eat some food, have a couple of drinks, and shoot the shite while she opens gifts” showers have become coed, because why not.

Idk man. I assume that if everyone is invited then it’s just a party with friends while you give them diapers or everyone puts in for a car seat or something. Every drinks and has a good time while celebrating a new member of the family.
