A homework assignment -- titled "Civil War Tic Tac Toe" -- required students to complete three of following categories:
Write a journal entry from the perspective of a slave in South
Create a visual comparing the North and South
Writing a letter persuading a southern to join the Union
Create a wanted poster for a runaway slave
Write a story about your first day as a soldier
Use an application to present key facts about a major player in the Civil War
Color and label a battlefield page of a different state
Research a Virginia battle and present the facts in a unique way
Create a song highlight major events in the Civil War

I feel like the teacher wouldn't like my answers.

This is what we're heading toward. Even learning about or acknowledging the civil war will be racist soon.

I don't see a problem with any of this. Creating a runaway slave poster is a great way to learn about the evils of slavery.
I think it would be more like comparing an agrarian society to an industrialized one

I would replace "civil war" with "war of northern aggression" see how that goes over

Teacher wouldn't like my answer. Because most had it better as a slave than they did as a freeman.
