And no more setting headspace and timing on the newer ones.

Ain't it grand ... they found a way to make the greatest even greater.
Not to mention the new ordnance they have at their disposal these days in terms of ammo.

They’re not hard to find. You can order authentic ones from WW2 online for around 1,400-2,000 dollars

My gorgeous M21 was unceremoniously lost in a tragic boating accident.

I’m a big fan of the M1a platform and even had a couple before the boating accident. Tragic.
I fell in love with the platform while in the old 82nd Airborne sniper school at Bragg before everything was moved to Benning.
Just curious as to your M21 build? Receiver, barrel, trigger, sights? Looks like maybe the stock as well.
Mine is pretty much custom but yours looks like maybe a Springfield? Nice rifle.

It was a Springfield.

Colt GAU and the Smith and Wesson Combat Masterpiece.

How does it stack up to the SAW?
No comparison IMO when it comes to hitting point targets. The IAR is far superior. But when you need an area denial weapon, only a belt fed will do. People will argue but I think the SAW should remain in inventory as a mounted / static emplacement weapon while the IAR should be out on patrol.

Better yet, use the Mk48 instead. It's chambered in 7.62 and not a POS.

Sorry just saw this reply.
I use the 45 auto rims. I get them from Georgia arms. If I'm out though I will use pretty much any standard pressure 45acp.
I had the folks at El Paso Saddlery make a replica of the original holster. It came out great.

dind't like it either. It's been replaced in the USMC by the IAR (basically an HK416 with a longer and heavier barrel). Unfortunately, the IAR isn't beltfed and they're stuck using 30 rounders.
