Agreed.
Anyone in here who reads the bible knows what they should leave to their children.
I hope all you thumpers are remembering that line because its a big one.
Proverbs also explains in pretty accurate detail how to gain fortune versus those who WILL squander fortune.
Crazy that its literally all true if you look at it and apply it to everyone you know basically.
I also believe that I am a good person and dont harm anyone so it is better that I accumulate and teach my familly how to accumlate so it takes money off the streets for pieces of shite who would just frick it up anyways.

I know most of yall dont but its a bitch move and why we are where we are.
I disagree. I think you can debate this on topics like, "I have a family and I'm not going to intervene." I think that's a very defensible position but also one that probably does have broad societal impacts.
If it were my son, I'd tell him to use his situational awareness and do whatever feels appropriate and not let feeling like it's racist, a "bitch move", etc. impact that.

Im going to stop cursing so things arent taken far out of context.
If a gentleman is walking in a violent fashion in your direction, yes give it thought and probably cross the street.
If the guy just looks like a dude that is dirty and unhappy, which I'm sure that he is, there should be no reason to not walk your ground.
I mean, if you feel like there is a threat always trust your instinct.
But psychology does not support any of yalls opinions and neither do facts on a case by case basis. Not close. And we all have years and years of experience to know that even if we feel uncomfortable when someone that looks a certain way is walking our way nothing has ever happened.
How many people do you know? How many have been stabbed, shot or assaulted in general? How many walking down a sidewalk in a city?

I have no problem acknowledging the risk is negligible
But the benefit is likewise negligible
I think culturally we're overprotective against negligible risks that get in the way of meaningful benefit - like, being overly protective of your kids playing the backyard or whatever. They will absolutely benefit from the autonomy that comes with unsupervised play.
I just don't think the same is true here for something like this, especially when your risk calculus includes an iffy part of town, an increased time of day for assault, racial components, whatever it is. I still think the risk is insignificant, but again, what's the personal or cultural cost to avoiding the interaction late at night?

What I consider an accomplishment for someone else and what I personally believe I want to accomplish are different things.
Its more of a respect nod to the word "accomplished".
We have been watering down titles and words over the past 10 years.

This. Funny how it ramped up as Americans were placing blame on who was killing their financial independence and ability to thrive. The economy is actually worse since then, but the narrative was successfully adverted.

Just fricking walk. Not everyone that looks scary is scary and not everyone that looks nice is fricking nice.
I would tell my wife its all good, hes just walking we are just walking.
The fact you walk across the street says so much to yourself and to the other person and to anyone that is watching.
So you would put your significant other in harm's way to prove a meaningless point. We (as in, my wife and I) couldn't care less about whatever message you think it sends, we only care about self preservation. If you view that as a problem, it's your problem, not ours.

I'm still curious as to what message you think it sends to cross the street and why that matters.

Nah, man, you said that crossing the street sends a message to everyone. You should tell us what you think that action says to people. We're not mind readers, you should speak yours clearly.

Now me, you and your wife are all dead because instead of you crossing and me walking straight he attacked us all.
I tried saving yalls life.

Not sure who the bigger hypocrite is in here, you or OP. You each love patting yourself on the back for being a good person before bagging on anybody in here that disagrees with you.

True. Look no further than the Sheduer Sanders fiasco of a couple of weeks ago. Everything was racist.
It's become mindnumbingly old for the absurdity of it all.
